Born in a pumpkin patch on a cold October day
sucking, shivering, sleepily, snuggling against my mother in the rough, tough, scratchy hay
I lay almost all night and day
late one night humans found me and took me far away
they took me to a noisy, smelly, scary room and in a cage they put me
sitting or lying on display for everyone to see
lived little black and white patched fur, tuxedo looking, scared me
there was no hiding place in that cage for me
along came a little human who picked me up, kissed, caressed, and carried me
to my forever home where he set me free
pouncing, prodding, prancing, purring, pretty kitty
leaping, lunging, lounging, licking adorable kitty
swatting, swiping, sitting majestically, happy, playful kitty
eating, drinking, loving, snuggling safe kitty
that is me
