Liberty State Park is located in Jersey City, New Jersey. During the warm months it is one of my favorite places to be. There is so much to see: Ellis Island rich with immigrant history- the hospital, personal stories and genealogies. There is also the grand symbol of freedom: the Statue of Liberty- standing more than 300 feet tall, garbed from head-to-toe in sea green, adorned with a seven-ray crown, a magnificent lady dominating the landscape with her majesty. Boaters, cyclist, joggers, walkers; family reunions and groups picnicking; lovers lounging in the grass; children playing in the playgrounds scattered throughout the park; elders sitting safely and leisurely on park benches under the shade of trees; tourists and residents mingling; clean public toilet facilities; nature trails; tranquility, the trusted Park Police are some of the reasons Liberty State Park is special to me.
